Santa Maura is located in the northern central part of Nicaragua, in the mountainous area where the Dariense and Isabelia mountain ranges meet. The average altitude on the farm is 1150 m with average anual rainfall of 1.8m over the months of may to jan. Temperatures vary between 10c and 28c depending on the season. The farm cultivates 4 varietals of Aribica, Pacamara, caturra, Bourbon, Catuai as well as this new lot of Maracatu, a hybrid of Maragogype and caturra.
In addtion the farm produces its own energy from an environmently friendly hydraulic turbine, avoiding pollution from fossil fuels, also much of the fertilizer used is produced on a worm farm where the discarded coffee pulp is broken down oever a period of several weeks.
